Changing or updating a reservation

After a reservation is created, you can make various changes to its status and details. See common types of updates below.

Changes to a reservation must be made either through Guesty or through a channel, as described next.

General limitations

  • It is not possible to change a reservation with a length of stay of more than 730 days or to change the guest assigned to a reservation. In both cases, you can cancel the existing reservation and manually create it again.
  • Changes made to reservations will only sync between Guesty and the channel if the listing's connection status with the channel is “Connected” or “Live on channel”. You can check the connection status of the listing on the relevant channel's distribution page, under the “Status” column.

Changes or updates you can make to a reservation

Where to make changes or updates to a reservation

See below whether to change a reservation via Guesty or the reservation’s channel of origin.

Agoda (Pro users only)

Change via the channel.

Airbnb

Pro users Lite users

Pro users:

You can approve or decline an alteration request from the guest via Guesty. Also, you can make changes to an Airbnb reservation via Guesty and choose whether to send an alteration request to your guest and Airbnb for approval or to make the change only internally in Guesty.

In the latter case, the change won't sync with Airbnb and might be overridden by any future alterations to the reservation made in Airbnb. Additionally, changing the reservation’s assigned listing via Guesty should be avoided, as it will disable the reservation’s messaging and payment setup.

Vrbo

Pro users Lite users

Pro users:

Change via Guesty. Changes to a reservation made via Guesty will be updated on Vrbo within 24 hours. We recommend creating an Automated Message that will be sent upon the alteration of a reservation. This is to let the guest know that the change has been made, but it will take a bit longer to be updated on Vrbo's platform. You can ensure that it is sent only for Vrbo reservations by adding a Channel sending condition.

Additional booking channels (Pro users only)

Change via the channel. Use the information regarding additional booking channels here.
