When altering an Airbnb reservation in Guesty, there are several conditions that must be met. If any of these requirements aren’t fulfilled, the alteration request may be rejected.
To modify an Airbnb reservation, request your guest to submit an alteration request through the Airbnb platform. Once received, you can approve or decline the request, or send an alteration request for the guest and Airbnb's approval in Guesty.
Note:
Internal changes to a reservation in Guesty don't sync to Airbnb. Alteration requests will fail because the reservation in Airbnb is assigned to a different listing in Guesty.
Use the following checklist to identify and resolve potential issues.
Use Guesty's self-service dashboard to identify and resolve listing sync issues between Guesty and Airbnb.
Check the reservation status. Airbnb only allows alterations for confirmed and active/ongoing reservations. You can't alter reservation that are
- Cancelled
- Unconfirmed
- Aready ended
Make sure the reservation is linked to the same listing in both Guesty and Airbnb. If not, the alteration will fail.
- Ensure your listing is listed and activated.
- Ensure your listing's status is "Connected". If not, connect your Airbnb listing.
Airbnb restrictions or Guesty tools may prevent alterations.
- Check if you're using availability tools to control when the listing can be booked.
- Check if you have set a custom availability or limitations for specific booking dates in Airbnb. For example, you may have restricted the check-in or check-out dates for the specific days of the alteration, which will lead to the rejection of the alteration request.
For example: If the alteration adds one extra night, but that date requires a minimum of two nights, the request will be rejected. To proceed, update the minimum stay for that date to one night.
- Check for blocks in the Multi-Calendar and remove any flexible blocks.
- Check if another reservation is booked on the altered dates of the reservation in the calendar.
- Learn how to troubleshoot calendar and pricing discrepancies.
Check the occupancy of the listing and make sure the property can accommodate the updated number of guests.
For example: If your listing accommodates up to six guests, and the alteration is for eight guests, it will be rejected.
Check if the check-out date is today. Alterations can't be processed in Guesty if the reservation ends today.
- Dates are compared with Airbnb using the format YYYY-MM-DD.
- If today is the check-out date but the scheduled check-out time hasn't yet passed, make the alteration directly in Airbnb.
If the alteration involves additional payment, the guest is required to provide their payment details in Airbnb within 24 hours. Otherwise, the alteration request is declined.
When moving a reservation to another listing, ensure the new listing has not been occupied during the past days of the reservation. Otherwise, you won't be able to assign the reservation to it.
Check if the listing has a rate strategy or a PriceOptimizer rule, such as a check-out or minimum nights restriction, that prevents reservation alterations. For example: If your listing has a rule that restricts check-out on Saturdays, a guest with a reservation ending on Thursday wouldn't be able to extend their stay for 2 days since check-out would be on Saturday.
Following resolution, resubmit the alteration request. If you change any of the settings mentioned above, you can restore them after the request is sent.
