Why is there a block in my calendar?

If you see an unidentified block in your calendar, it could be due to one of the following reasons.

1. Advance notice settings

“Advance notice" is scheduled to ensure that you have enough time to prepare for a guest’s arrival ahead of check-in—for example, to prevent same-day bookings.

If you have “Advance notice” set for a listing, it will automatically block time on your calendars.
Note: When it comes to “Advanced notice”, there are certain limitations that booking channels enforce.

Learn more with Setting Advance Notice for Reservations Ahead of Check-in.

2. Preparation time settings

Once a reservation is confirmed, the “preparation time block” is automatically added across all booking channels.
If you already have blocked nights set before or after a reservation date, it won’t provide you the option to prepare the listing for a guest’s arrival.

Learn more about setting preparation time.

3. Unassigned sub-units

If you have an unassigned reservation, and there is only 1 sub-unit available during that time frame, the multi-calendar will block your calendar to ensure that the reservation will have a sub-unit for their stay.

Learn more about assigning sub-units.

4. Unassigned reservations (before check-in date)

Unassigned reservations automatically disappear from the side widget if left unassigned for more than x days, and will appear as a block in your calendar until x days before the check-in.

For example:
Let's say "Highlight upcoming unassigned reservations" settings are set to 14 days before check-in (like in the image below).
That means your calendar will automatically create a block for the unassigned reservations that have a check-in date within the upcoming 14 days.

ֿStep by step:

Beta navigation users, please note that the steps below refer to the navigation as seen in the Legacy mode. Read more here about locating menu items in the new navigation.

Follow these steps to set the number of days to display unassigned reservations on your Guesty calendar.

  1. Go to the listing.
  2. Details & Layout tab > Property.
  3. In the “Highlight upcoming unassigned reservations” field, enter the number of dates before check-in.
You can choose between 1-100 days.
  4. Click Save.

How to find unassigned reservations

If the reservation is not assigned, the unassigned sub-units will sit in the parent unit.
In this case, you can find the reservation in a few different ways listed below.

1. The Widget in the Multi-Calendar

  1. In the Multi-Calendar, it will say “unassigned” next to your property listing (located on the left).

2. Hover over it to view how many unassigned reservations there are, and click it to open a side widget for more information about the unassigned reservations.

3. In the side widget (on the right side of the screen), click the drop-down arrow to view more details about each unassigned reservation.
You can also click a reservation to assign it a unit.

2. The “Reservations Smart View”

  1. In the navigation bar, click Reservations.
  2. Click the + button to add a filter.
  3. Click Listing > Listing > unassigned > Add.
  4. Make sure to set specific dates on the Check-In/Out filter.

3. Custom Reservation Reports
You can download a custom Reservation Report to view specific reservations—including unassigned reservations.
