Manually assigning or un-assigning a sub-unit from a multi-unit reservation

When creating a new multi-unit listing, you’ll need to decide whether reservations are assigned to a sub-unit automatically, or manually. You can change these settings at any time.
If you choose to assign reservations to sub-units manually, learn below how to view unassigned reservations, and how to assign or unassign them to sub-units.

Even if you set an automatic assignment to sub-units, in some cases, the reservation will remain unassigned, and you'll need to assign it manually:

  • If there aren't enough consecutive nights available on the calendar. By default, reservations can be received for a multi-unit regardless of having a single sub-unit to host the entire guest stay. I.e., if the stay can be allotted between different sub-units, each vacant to host a segment of the reservation, the reservation can be booked but will remain unassigned.
  • If you move a reservation to another sub-unit via the booking channel, and the sub-unit is unavailable
  • Reservations with a Reserved or Inquiry cannot be automatically assigned. Also, reservations that were imported from Airbnb as "Inquires", and then changed to "Confirmed", cannot be automatically assigned.

  • Auto-assignment is not supported for Booking.com reservations

You can relocate other reservations to different sub-units to create vacancies. Alternatively, you can block the availability of the multi-unit in advance if there is not a specific sub-unit available to host the entire guest stay.

View unassigned reservations

You can view and manage all of your multi-unit listings and reservations in one place using Guesty's Multi-Calendar. If any upcoming reservations are not yet assigned to sub-units, an indication like this: will appear in the left sidebar of the Multi-Calendar, next to the name of the relevant property. Learn how to configure how much time before check-in this indication will be shown in the Multi-Calendar.

Also, you can see all upcoming, unassigned reservations by creating a reservations report.

Manually assign a sub-unit to a reservation

You can assign a reservation to a sub-unit that is unlisted. However, it is not possible to assign a reservation to a sub-unit that is not an active listing in Guesty.

Step by step:

  1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
  2. In the top navigation bar, click the Multi-calendar icon.
  3. On the left side, click next to the relevant multi-unit listing.
  4. In the right sidebar, select the relevant multi-unit listing.
  5. Hover over the relevant reservation, then click Click to assign reservation.
  6. Under "Assigned unit", select a sub-unit from the drop-down.
  7. Click Save.

You can also assign a sub-unit to a reservation via the reservation page.

Unassign a sub-unit from a reservation

Unassigning a reservation from a sub-unit can be useful, for example, when relocating multiple reservations. Follow the instructions below.

Step by step:

  1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
  2. In the top navigation bar, click the mode selector and select Operations mode.
  3. Click Reservations.
  4. Click the relevant reservation.
  5. Click the three vertical dots next to "Summary". Then, click Edit Reservation.
  6. Under "Assigned Unit", click the x next to the currently assigned sub-unit.
  7. Click Change.

Now you can reassign the reservation to a different listing, as needed.
