What data is synced between Booking.com and Guesty and where to manage it

Understand which data syncs between Booking.com and Guesty, how sync types impact data ownership, and where to manage your listings and reservations for each connection type.

Note:

Guesty syncs reservations, guest communication, and calendar tools based on your connection type. Switching a listing's connection type may take up to 24 hours to complete.

Listing sync types: Linked vs published

  • Linked listings use a rates & availability sync type. This option is best to connect your Guesty listings to existing Booking.com listings.
  • Published listings use a full sync type. This option is best when you want to add your Guesty listings to Booking.com without recreating them.

Important:

Switching between sync types or editing the connection type can overwrite information on Booking.com or Guesty. Changes made in the wrong place may be lost within 24 hours after a sync occurs. Always confirm where to update your data.

Check the connection type

Follow the instructions below to check the listing's connection type.

Step by step:

  1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
  2. In the side navigation menu, click icon Marketing and sales to open the dropdown menu.
  3. Under Channel management, select Distribution.
  4. Click the Booking.com thumbnail.
  5. In the Booking.com integration page, locate the relevant listing's row. Then, check the connection type that appears under the "Connection type" column.

After switching the connection type, wait up to 24 hours for all data to align across Guesty and Booking.com. Avoid updating both platforms during this period.

Where to manage data by connection type

Manage your data in the correct platform based on your connection type. Whenever possible, we recommend managing your data in Guesty, unless stated otherwise.

Data syncing between platforms should occur instantly without delays. If data isn't synced, manually adjust the settings in the platform that wasn't synced to maintain consistency.

Guesty is your source of truth for most data on listings with a full sync connection type. Updates made in Guesty overrides Booking.com changes within 24 hours, unless otherwise specified.

Set the property location

 

You can set your listing address in Guesty upon the initial publish, and only if the listing's status in the Extranet is "XML: Being Built".

After the initial publish, make changes in Booking.com.

After the initial publish, make changes in both Guesty and Booking.com.

Set the listing description

The listing's description is auto-generated by Booking.com based on the facilities, location details, and other items from the information provided about the listing.

  • It is recommended to use landscape images (i.e. horizontal) with a minimum resolution of 2048x1080 pixels. Images with a resolution of 4000x3000 pixels render best results.
  • Booking.com displays a maximum of 45 photos.

After the initial publish, make changes in Booking.com.
