Guesty's auto payments feature takes the manual work out of collecting payments from your guests! You can set auto payment rules for each listing so that Guesty can automatically collect payments from guests. For example, you can schedule a collection of 50% of the amount at confirmation and the rest of the amount at check-in.
Setting up auto payments is required for publishing listings to Vrbo, and the full payment must be collected before check-out. See more details in the steps below.
Follow the instructions below to create auto payment rules. Also, see the steps on how to edit and delete an auto payment rule.
Important:
Auto payments are not available for Airbnb and Misterb&b reservations.
Creating an auto payment rule
Step by step:
- Ensure that a payment processor is connected to your Guesty account.
- Sign in to your Guesty account.
- In the top navigation bar, click the mode selector and select Operations mode.
- Click Properties.
- Click the relevant listing. For a multi-unit, access the main settings. The auto payment rule will apply to all sub-units automatically.
- In the left-side menu, click Pricing & policies, and select Auto payments.
- Next to "Rules", click Edit.
- Under "Auto payments", click Add rule.
- Click Payment.
- Edit the relevant fields. Uncheck the "Use guest's card" field if you plan to charge the guest manually, via cash for example.
If your listing is or will be published to Vrbo, be sure to include a rule that collects the rest of the payment before check-out, as Vrbo's requires. For Vrbo reservations booked via instant booking, the guest's card will always be charged even if "Use guest's card" is unchecked.
- Click Save.

Editing an auto payment rule
Follow the instructions above to access an existing auto payment rule and make the necessary changes. When saving your changes, read the information in the pop-up and click Yes if you want to apply the changes to reservations retroactively.
The new auto payment rule will apply to all confirmed reservations after the changes are saved.
Note:
Reservations in which payments were handled manually, such as manually collected payments, edited scheduled auto payment, or canceled scheduled auto payment, are no longer recognized as auto payment reservations. Alterations made to auto payment rules will not apply to these reservations retroactively.
Deleting an auto payment rule
Important:
Do not deleting an auto payment rule for a listing that is published to Vrbo as doing so will disrupt the connection.
Follow the instructions to edit auto payment rules and click Delete next to the relevant rule. When clicking Save, select Yes to remove the rule from all existing reservations, or No to keep the rule in place for existing reservations.
Tip:
You can remove an auto payment which was not yet charged from a reservation. Learn more.
