Adding photos of your listing in Guesty can provide a clear and appealing visual representation of the property, attracting potential guests to make a booking. The photos will be synced and displayed on the listing's page in the connected channel.
Follow the instructions below to upload new photos, assign them to rooms, and add their captions.
It can take up to 24 hours for new photos to sync with a booking channel.
Before you begin
Check where to manage your listing’s photos. If you need to manage them via Guesty, ensure they meet the following channel requirements.
Accepted file types are:
- JPEG
- JPG
- PNG
- GIF
The minimum resolution supported by Guesty is 1280x720 pixels. We recommend using a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels for a full HD display.
- Airbnb: A photo resolution must not exceed 1920x1080 pixels. A higher resolution will cause a listing not to be connected.
- Booking.com: Images with a resolution of 4000x3000 pixels render best results, with a minimum resolution of 2048x1080 pixels.
- Vrbo: The minimum quality resolution is 1024x683px. The best quality resolution is 3840x2160 pixels or higher. Vrbo rejects listings with duplicate images.
- Vrbo via Rentals United: The required resolution is 1024x768px.
When creating a listing in Guesty, you can upload photos with a file size of up to 5MB each. Once the listing is created, you can add additional photos. The maximum file size per image is 25MB.
- Airbnb: The file size must not exceed 4MB. Larger files will cause a listing not to be connected.
- Vrbo: The maximum file size is 20MB.
Tip:
Use these free third-party image optimization tools to compress your images:
Upload a minimum of 10 photos per listing to ensure it can be connected with all booking channels.
- Vrbo: A minimum of 7 photos per listing is required. 50 photos is the maximum.
- Rentals United: A minimum of 10 photos per listing is required. 50 photos is the maximum.
- Uploading multiple photos at once through Google Drive is currently not supported.

If you use full sync, manage your photos in Guesty, as photos in Airbnb are overridden by photos uploaded in Guesty. If you use limited sync, manage your photos in Airbnb. These won't sync to Guesty.
You can change the listing's sync settings from full sync to limited sync, and manage all content attributes, including the listing photos, in Airbnb.
Assign specific photos to rooms within the listing, as described in the instructions below. Assigned photos sync to the "Where you'll sleep" section on the Airbnb listing page.

- Photos should be sharp, well-lit, with high-resolution of no less than 1024x683 pixels.
- Use horizontal (landscape) orientation for better visibility.
- Avoid uploading duplicate images, which prevent your listing from being successfully connected to Vrbo.
Do not upload photos that are:
- Low-resolution or blurry
- Black and white
- Inappropriate or misleading
- Watermarked
- Copied from another listing
- Irrelevant to your property or area
- Blank or duplicated images
Avoid uploading images that contain:
- Logos or borders
- Text, URLs, or contact information
- Documents, certificates, illustrations, or posters
- Copyrighted material
- Close-up images of a plant
- License plates
- Collages of multiple photos or listings
Add new photos
In the case of a multi-unit, photos added to the main unit won't be shown automatically in the sub-units and must be added there separately.
Step by step:
- Sign in to your Guesty account.
- In the top navigation bar, click the mode selector and select Operations mode.
- Click Properties. If the listing is a multi-unit, you can manage this feature via the multi-unit's main unit, and choose whether to apply the settings to the main unit only, or to the main unit and all sub-units. Alternatively, you can configure the settings for a specific sub-unit. Click the main unit or a specific sub-unit.
- In the left-side menu, click Marketing, then select Photos.
- To the right of “Photo gallery”, click Edit.
- Click Upload photos or drag and drop a file into the photo gallery.
- Click Save.
Add captions and assign photos to rooms
Rooms are set in the property's room arrangement. In the case of a multi-unit, the room arrangement is configured on the main unit level. However, you can assign photos to rooms from a sub-unit level (all the main unit's rooms will be available for assignment).
Assigning photos to rooms or adding captions won’t sync to Booking.com. For Vrbo, each photo can have a maximum caption length of 400 characters
Step by step:
- Repeat steps 1-6 above.
- Mark the checkboxes of the relevant photos, then click Bulk edit. To select a single photo, click the photo.
- In the edit screen, fill in a caption for the photo in the text box and select the relevant room from the dropdown menu.
- Click Save.
Change the order or display
The photo in the top left of the gallery is the listing's primary photo in Guesty. This photo will be the listing’s cover photo on the Airbnb platform. To change the order of photos, click and hold the photo you want to move, then drag it to the desired location.
The order of display you set in Guesty won't be synced to Airbnb.
Delete a photo
For listings connected to Airbnb:
You can delete up to 100 photos per week. If you exceed this amount, the syncing will fail. You can manage your Airbnb listing photos while waiting for the rate limit to reset. To do so, switch your sync setting to “Limited”.
Step by step:
- Repeat steps 1-6 in "Adding a photo" above.
- Mark the checkboxes of the relevant photos, then click Delete.
