Adding a license number to a property in Guesty

Many jurisdictions require property owners to hold a license to lease their properties. Adding a license number ensures your listings comply with local regulations and prevents errors when publishing to booking channels. Learn where and how to update your license number below.

Where to add the license number

Airbnb 

Update your license number directly in Airbnb. If the license is missing in Airbnb, you will encounter an error when you import listings or publish properties. Update the license in Airbnb and retry the connection.

Booking.com

Update your license number in Guesty. If you're required to have a license and haven't updated it in Guesty, you'll encounter an error when trying to publish properties to Booking.com.

Rentals United

Add the license number manually in Rentals United. Guesty doesn't sync this data to Rentals United.

Vrbo

Update your license number directly in Vrbo. Adding it in Guesty is optional.

In your Vrbo account, select the listing if you have more than one property. Click Local laws and update your registration details through the Update registration link. Click Edit registration and follow the steps. 

For properties with a “Pending” status that require compliance information to be published on Vrbo, you can add or update the required license details directly in Guesty. 

Add your property license in Guesty

Add your license number to the dedicated field on the property page, not the description fields.

Step by step:

1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
2. In the top navigation bar, click the mode selector and select Operations mode.
3. Click Properties.

4. Click the relevant property.

   For multi-units, manage this feature via the main unit to apply settings to all sub-units, or configure a specific sub-unit.

5. In the left-side menu, click Details & Layout, then select Owner & license.
6. Click Edit next to "License regulation".

7. Enter the license number in the "License number" field.

   Note:

   The license number field supports up to 70 characters.

   Vrbo:

   1. Scroll down to “Vrbo license details” and click Edit.
   2. For properties that display “Regulation category”, select Regulation category from the dropdown menu.
   3. Add the relevant information.
8. Click Save.
