The Calendar Conflict Detector is an AI agent that helps prevent double-bookings and availability gaps. It works by regularly comparing your Guesty calendar with the calendars on your connected booking channels to find and flag any synchronization issues.
Understand the Calendar Conflict Detector
The detector runs automatically on a regular schedule to audit your calendars. It can't be run manually.
During each audit, the tool performs the following steps:
- Pulls the current booking calendar for each property from Guesty.
- Pulls the live calendar from each connected channel for the same property.
- Cross-references the calendars to find date ranges that show as available in one source but are blocked in the other.
- Identifies and flags specific anomalies, including:
- Overlapping confirmed reservations for the same property.
- Dates that are blocked on an OTA but open in Guesty, or vice versa.
- Synchronization gaps of 24 hours or more between Guesty and a channel.
Flags all anomalies and creates a prioritized conflict report.
When a conflict is detected, the agent also automatically:
- Adds a note to both affected reservations.
- Creates a task to review and fix the reservations.
- Posts an internal note in the Inbox of the reservation it recommends canceling.
This process is especially useful for identifying sync delays that can occur with iCal-connected channels.
Review the activity feed
When the detector completes a scan, it posts the results to your activity feed. Follow the steps below to review your activity feed.
Step by step:
- Sign in to your Guesty account.
- In the side navigation menu, click
Agents hub. - In the left submenu, click Agent activity.
- Click the relevant row with the agent's name to review the report details in the right side panel.
Understand the report status and details
The sync audit result will have one of two statuses:
- Done: All calendars are in sync, and no conflicts were found.
- Action needed: One or more conflicts were detected and require your attention.
When action is needed, the report provides the following details for each flagged conflict:
- Listing name
- Dates affected
- What Guesty shows vs. what the OTA shows
- A recommended resolution
Resolve flagged conflicts
The Calendar Conflict Detector alerts you to issues, but doesn't resolve them automatically. You must investigate and manually resolve each flagged conflict.
Follow the steps below to resolve a conflict.
Step by step:
- Review the conflict details in the report to understand the discrepancy.
- Manually resolve the issue in Guesty. This may include:
- Canceling one of the reservations if a double-booking occurred.
- Forcing a calendar sync with the relevant channel.
- Blocking or unblocking dates manually to match the correct availability.
- Contact your guests directly if a double-booking has been confirmed and needs to be changed or canceled.
