Setting your listing to allow children

Welcoming families to your vacation rental is a great way to expand your guest base. Use the instructions below to indicate that your listing is child-friendly.

First, add to the property's house rules that children are allowed.

Additionally, for Booking.com listings (pro users), set the listing's child policy:

  • The age range for children
  • The maximum number of children
  • The child fees

Children are included in a listing's guest count, and must not supersede the listing's occupancy.

Children above the age limit you set in the child policy are considered adults. Also, if the number of children in a reservation is higher than the number you allow in the child policy, they'll be considered adults.

Follow the steps below to set a listing to allow children

1. Configure the listing house rules to allow children

Listings connected to Booking.com:

When publishing a listing to Booking.com, the "Child policy" field is set to "Children allowed" by default. To update your child policy, follow the instructions below.

Listings connected to Vrbo:

  • Lite users: If you connected to Vrbo after  19 Feb 2024, set your child policy directly in Vrbo. All other users - set your child policy in Guesty.
  • Changes to the child policy will sync to Vrbo within 24 hours. Also, your listing amenities will be updated automatically to include "family/kid friendly".
