Selecting a guest's primary email address for communication

When a guest makes a reservation, Guesty automatically saves their contact details. If a reservation has more than one email address, set the primary email address to choose which address to use for guest communication. A blue star indicates the primary address.

You can choose to set up a proxy email address or a private email address as a guest's primary email address, and communicate in the following ways:

  • To communicate with a guest through the booking channel's messaging platform, choose their proxy email address. A proxy email address enables communication between a booking channel's messaging platform and Guesty. You can't send attachments via the booking channel.
  • To communicate with a guest directly, choose their private email address. Set the guest's private email address as primary to send attachments, links, media, or use HTML in your messages.

Tip:

We recommend making sure the correct email address has been set as the primary address each time a new reservation is received.

Change a guest's primary email address

Follow the instructions below to set the primary email through the Inbox widget.

Step by step:

  1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
  2. In the side navigation menu, click Inbox.
  3. In the Inbox submenu, select the relevant inbox.
  4. Click the relevant message thread.
  5. In the inbox widget submenu, click the guests icon.
  6. Hover over the right side of "Contact details", and click Edit.
  7. Under "Email", hover over the relevant address and click the star icon.
  8. At the bottom of the section, click Save.
