Setting up the guidebook in the Guest App

The guidebook section in the Guest App is a curated catalog of local tips designed to enhance a guest's stay. Based on Google Maps integration, add personalized tips and suggest nearby restaurants, attractions, and shops.

Guesty supports multiple languages for advice. The app defaults to English if your chosen language is unsupported.

The setup process involves two steps: first, create recommendations, then connect them to a selected Guest App.

Create a recommendation catalog

The catalog displays on the "Recommendations" page and is not tied to a single property.

Step by step:

1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
2. In the top navigation bar, click the mode selector and select Guest experience mode.
3. Select Recommendations from the dropdown.
4. Click Add a recommendation
5. Select a location using the map or search for it.
6. Fill in the relevant information:
   • Photos: Toggle on Show live photos from Google to upload photos from Google Photos, which automatically sync to your account. Click Add photos upload your own images to create more personalized guest experiences.
   • Reviews: Toggle on Show live Google reviews to display five reviews from Google.
   • Category (mandatory): Group items logically for guests. Without a category, the recommendation won't be visible in the guest app.
   • Advice: Write your own advice, custom insights, or special tips for guests. Click Add another language to add a translation.
   • Assign properties (mandatory): Choose either:
     • All: Visible across all properties.
     • Specific properties: Visible only for selected properties.
     • Assign by rule: Add filters to apply only to properties adhering to certain rules.
7. At the top-right, click Save.

To edit or delete a recommendation, click in the top-right corner of the relevant recommendation and select the relevant action from the dropdown.

Connect recommendations to the Guest App

Follow the steps below to connect a recommendation to a selected Guest App.

Step by step:

1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
2. In the top navigation bar, click the mode selector and select Guest experience mode.
3. Select Guest app from the dropdown.
4. Click next to the relevant Guest App and select Edit Guest App.
5. Under "App modules", toggle on Guidebook, and click .
6. Under "Visibility settings, configure when guests would have access to this information.

Recommendations are shared automatically with guests based on their location. To edit recommendations, click Manage all recommendations.
