Tracking direct booking sources with website names (Guesty Booking Engine & Booking Engine API)

When you manage multiple booking engines—whether they're embedded in different websites or function as standalone booking portals—tracking which source generates each reservation helps plan marketing efforts and optimize your booking strategy. Each booking engine can be integrated into one or more websites, so capturing the specific source of reservations gives you clear visibility into your most valuable booking channels.

Use the source (website name) data to:

• Identify which booking engines generate the most reservations.
• Analyze guest segments from different direct booking sources.
• Optimize marketing spend based on booking source performance.
• Track the effectiveness of different website integrations.

Limitations

Keep these limitations in mind when using website name data:

• Website names only appear for booking engine, website, or booking engine API reservations.
• Reservations created before March 2025 don't show website names in reservation reports.
• Website name data isn't currently available through the Open API endpoint.
• The website name field isn’t displayed for reservations from other channels or if you manually change the source after booking.

View website names in reservation details

To see the reservation source of a single reservation, open the reservation details.

Step by step:

1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
2. In the top navigation bar, click the mode selector and select Operations mode.
3. Click Reservations.
4. Click the relevant reservation.
5. Under “Summary”, locate the “Source” field. The website name is displayed based on your booking source:
   • Booking engine reservations: Shows the "Business name" from your Guesty Booking Engine settings.
   • BE API reservations: Shows the "Nick name" from your Guesty Booking Engine API configuration.

View website names in reports

Create a report to analyze source performance by adding the website name data to a reservations report.

Step by step:

1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
2. In the top navigation bar, click the mode selector and select Operations mode.
3. Click Reservations.
4. To add the “Website name” column, click Columns, select Reservation, and toggle on Website name.
