Setting auto reviews for Airbnb and Vrbo

Guesty’s auto reviews feature allows you to post reviews for guests automatically after their check out. You can customize the star rating, timing, and message template for each channel. This feature is specifically for reviewing guests and doesn’t support reviews for properties or listings. 

Once configured, the auto reviews apply to:

  • Future reservations
  • Confirmed reservations where the guest hasn’t checked in yet.

Default timing: Reviews are sent at midnight the day after check-out. 

Example: A guest who checks out on January 23 will receive a review at midnight on January 24.

Adjustable timing: Delay reviews by a custom number of days if needed. 

Before you begin

Ensure the following: 

  • The listing in Guesty matches the Airbnb or Vrbo listing.  
  • The listing is connected to its respective channel.
  • Auto reviews are activated for the connected listings.

For Airbnb auto review templates:

Templates must comply with Airbnb’s content policy, which prohibits: 

  • Advertising or commercial content.
  • Spam or repetitive content.
  • Illegal, harmful, sexually explicit, violent, graphic, threatening, or harassing content.
  • Discriminatory content.
  • Impersonation of another person, account, or entity.
  • Violations of others’ rights, including intellectual property and privacy.
  • Private or confidential information, (e.g., details identifying a listing’s location).

Tip:

Follow Airbnb's reviews policy to create high-quality, varied guest reviews. Avoid using identical templates for multiple reviews, as this can impact your Airbnb ranking.

Note:

For multi-unit listings, manage auto reviews via the multi-unit's main settings, not the sub-unit's. Ensure sub-units aren’t individually connected to Airbnb, as reviews are automated through the main listing.

  1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
  2. In the top navigation bar, open the mode selector, and select Operations mode.
  3. Click Properties
  4. select the relevant listing.
  5. In the left-side menu, click Automation.
  6. From the dropdown menu, select Auto Reviews.
  7. Under "Auto reviews Airbnb", toggle on Active.
  8. Select the default star rating.
  9. (Optional) Adjust the number of days to delay the sending.
  10. Click Add your first template or Add another template.
    You can copy templates to or from other listings.
  11. Enter the review text. Use variables to personalize reviews:
  • {{guest}}
  • {{guest_first}}
  •  {{listing_address_city}}
  1. Click Save.

Activate auto reviews for Vrbo (Pro only)

Deactivate auto reviews

To deactivate auto reviews for a listing, toggle off Active in the Airbnb or Vrbo section (or both).
