Setting auto reviews for Airbnb and Vrbo

Auto reviews allow you to automatically post reviews for guests after check-out to save time, ensure consistency, and maintain strong guest communications. This feature is specifically for reviewing guests and doesn’t support reviews for properties or listings. 

You can choose from the following options:

• When the review is posted
• What rating is given
• What content is included (currently only supported for Airbnb)

Guesty sends reviews at midnight the day after check-out. For example, if a guest checks out on January 01, the review is sent at midnight on January 02.

Once configured, auto reviews apply to confirmed reservations before check-in, and all future reservations.

Before you begin

Ensure the following before you begin:

• The listing in Guesty is correctly connected to Airbnb and/or Vrbo.
• The listing in Guesty matches the listing in Airbnb and/or Vrbo.  
• Don't connect sub-units of a multi-unit property individually. Manage auto reviews from the main multi-unit settings.

Setting auto reviews for Airbnb

You can have unlimited Airbnb templates. Guesty sends a different template at random for each review. Setting a specific template rules or sending conditions isn't supported. Star ratings apply to all templates and can't be set individually.

Limitations

Airbnb template compliance

Follow Airbnb's reviews policy to create unique guest reviews. Using the same template for many reviews can affect your Airbnb ranking.

• Templates must comply with Airbnb’s Content Policy.
  • Don't include the which following:
    • Advertising or commercial content.
    • Spam or repetitive content.
    • Illegal, harmful, sexually explicit, violent, graphic, threatening, or harassing content.
    • Discriminatory content.
  • Don't impersonate another person, account, or entity.
  • Don't violate others’ rights, including intellectual property and privacy.
  • Don't post private or confidential information (such as details identifying a listing’s location).

Follow the instructions below or watch our video to set up auto reviews and create a review template for Airbnb.

ֿStep by step:

1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
2. In the top navigation bar, open the mode selector and select Operations mode.
3. Click Properties. 
4. Select the relevant listing.
5. In the left-side menu, click Automation.
6. From the dropdown menu, select Auto reviews.
7. In the Airbnb section
   • Toggle on Active
   • Select the default star rating
   • Optional: Adjust the delay in days before the review is sent
8. Click Add your first template or Add another template if one already exists.
   1. You can copy templates to or from other listings.
   2. Use variables to personalize reviews:
      • {{guest}} - Full guest name
      • {{guest_first}} - First name only
      • {{listing_address_city}} - City of the property

12. Enter your text and click Save.

Your auto reviews are now active for this Airbnb listing.

Setting auto reviews for Vrbo

Vrbo supports auto reviews, with the following configurations:

• Active toggle on/off
• Default star rating
• Delay in days

Templates are not currently supported for Vrbo.

Follow the instructions below to set up auto reviews for Vrbo.

ֿStep by step:

1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
2. In the top navigation bar, open the mode selector and select Operations mode.
3. Click Properties. 
4. Select the relevant listing.
5. In the left-side menu, click Automation.
6. From the dropdown menu, select Auto reviews.
7. In the Vrbo section
   • Toggle on Active
   • Select the default star rating
   • (Optional) Adjust the delay in days before the review is sent

8. Click Save.

   Your auto reviews are now active for this Vrbo listing.

Deactivate auto reviews

To deactivate auto reviews for a listing, follow steps 1-7 for the relevant channel above and toggle off Active.
