Custom fields help you add unique details to your properties and reservations that aren't available in standard settings.

Follow the guidelines below to use custom fields effectively.

  • Use custom fields to add dynamic details to your properties and reservations, and to filter your custom reports.
    • Use property custom fields for information that varies by property, such as parking information or a WiFi password.
    • Use reservation custom fields for information that varies by reservation, such as flight details or guest nationality.
  • Use custom variables when you send messages from the inbox or create automated message templates.
    • Guesty automatically generates a variable when you create a custom field. For example, a "Minimum age" custom field generates a {{minimum_age}} custom variable.
    • When you insert a variable into a message sent from Guesty, the value fills in automatically when the message is sent.
  • Avoid using dashes in custom field names, as automated messages will fail if a custom variable contains a dash.

    For example:

    • Incorrect: "Building-name" / {{building-name}}
    • Correct: "Building name" / {{building_name}}
  • Set a default value for a field per property or reservation after you create a custom field.
  • Use custom fields as sending conditions for automated messages.
  • View the variables you created on the "Custom fields" page.
