Sending lock codes to guests

With Guesty Locks Manager, you can manage every smart lock you use remotely – all from one dashboard – with an automatic, unique code generator and full visibility into lock data.

Once you’ve linked your locks to Guesty properties, codes are generated automatically for all confirmed reservations with future check in dates, and when new reservations are confirmed. Each guest receives one code that is valid for all the locks at the property.

By default, codes are created as follows:

  • 4 digits in length
  • Activation at estimated time of arrival (ETA)
  • Deactivation at estimated time of departure (ETD)

Code validity is created/updated for all reservations with a future ETD, allowing for last-minute reservations.

Note:

For Salto locks, codes are created randomly by Salto rather than by Guesty Locks Manager, and you can view them in Guesty Locks Manager only once they are activated. Activation time is set in Guesty and must be up to four hours before check-in. Early check-ins and late check-outs don't trigger a code update if the code is already active.

To share the guest codes with your guests, set up automated messages that include the code variable.

Create or edit an automated message to send to guests based on reservation confirmation or check-in. Schedule the message for at least 20 minutes after reservation confirmation to allow time for the variable to populate. In your message content, use the variable {{guest_access_code}}

Important:

If you already have an automated message set up to send lock codes, update the variable from {{keycode}} to {{guest_access_code}}.
