Setting up Guesty's Damage Protection

See where Guesty's Damage Protection is currently available.

Use Guesty's Damage Protection to make sure you receive compensation for damages caused by guests during their stay without having to confront them. 

Before you begin

Once Damage Protection is activated, it will be applied immediately to all qualifying reservations, based on the following selections made during the set up process (explained below):

  • Properties
    • All properties are included by default, you must edit to change
    • Properties added in the future will be automatically included
  • Reservations
    • Existing reservations are included by default, you must edit to exclude
    • All new reservations will be automatically included

Note:

Once activated, all reservations made through all connected channels for the selected properties will be covered. You cannot remove Damage Protection on a reservation level or channel level. 

Determine your coverage plan

You can view the different plan options before activating Damage Protection. Simply follow the first steps through "View plans" below. Based on this information, you can understand how much your plan will cost per reservation. 

For example: For the Gold plan with coverage up to $10,000, you will be billed $60 per reservation by Guesty.

Cover the cost of Damage Protection

With an understanding of the cost per reservation that will be incurred, you can decide how you would like to cover the cost of Damage Protection. You have options to pass on the cost to guests or owners, explained here

We recommend setting this up right before you activate Damage Protection, to avoid any gaps between what you will be billed and what you are collecting.

Important:

Any new fees created or pricing changes will only apply to new reservations. If you choose to cover existing reservations, the additional cost will need to be collected manually.

Activate Damage Protection

Pro users Lite users

Step by step:

  1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
  2. In the top navigation bar, click  and select Guesty add-ons.
  3. Click Guesty Shield.
  4. Click View plans.
  5. Select plan: Click to select your coverage plan, then click Next.
  6. Select properties: By default, the Damage Protection plan will apply to all of your existing and future properties. Click Edit to choose one of the following options:
    1. Exclude properties to exclude specific properties.
    2. By rule to apply the plan to any existing or future property that matches the city and/or tags you select.
    3. Specific to apply the plan to specific properties only. 
    4. Future properties added to Guesty will be automatically included.
  7. Reservations coverage: By default, all new reservations and current booking reservations will be covered.
    1. To exclude current booking reservations, click the tickbox.
  8. Click Next.

  9. Review the coverage plan details, read and agree to the terms and conditions, then click Confirm.

Once completed, reservations that are covered by the Damage Protection plan and were checked out will be billed at the end of the month.

Tip:

You can view the Damage Protection plan and file a claim through the reservation page of the relevant reservation.
