Use Guesty's Damage Protection to make sure you receive compensation for damages caused by guests during their stay without having to confront them. By implementing Guesty's Damage Protection, you can safeguard your properties effectively, ensuring peace of mind for both you and your guests.
This feature is currently available for properties located in the United States and Mexico.
Note:
Lite users: Damage Protection is only available for paid subscriptions and cannot be utilized during the Guesty Lite free trial period.
Coverage plans
- Bronze Plan: Offers coverage up to $3,000 per reservation. Ideal for properties with standard furnishings and lower risk profiles.
- Silver Plan: Offers coverage up to $5,000 per reservation. Ideal for properties with standard furnishings and lower risk profiles.
- Gold Plan: Provides coverage up to $10,000 per reservation. This plan is suitable for properties with higher-value contents or those seeking more extensive protection.
- Platinum Plan: Offers coverage up to $20,000 per reservation, ideal for properties with high-value contents requiring maximum protection.
Damage Protection covers:
- Contents: Fixtures, furnishings, betterments, and improvements within the property.
- Real Property: Immovable structures or elements of the building and outbuildings.
It does not include:
- Damages exceeding the "Maximum Any One Item" limit per reservation.
- Losses not directly caused by guests during their stay.
- Normal wear and tear or pre-existing conditions.
- Mechanical or electrical breakdown
- War, Terrorism
- Nuclear reaction
- Radioactive contamination Intentional or expected loss
- Smoking
- Neglect
- Criminal acts
- Government action
- Seepage and/or pollution and/or contamination
- Pathogenic, biological, or chemical materials and microorganisms (mold)
You can view the different plan options before activating Damage Protection. Simply follow the first steps through "View plans" below. Based on this information, you can understand how much your plan will cost per reservation.
For example: For the Gold plan with coverage up to $10,000, you will be billed $60 per reservation by Guesty.

Commonly used terms
See below definitions for commonly used terminology under Guesty Damage Protection.
- Real property: Refers to immovable structures or elements of the building and outbuildings.
- Contents: Refers to fixtures, furnishings, betterment, and improvements in the property.
- Maximum any one item: The maximum damage Guesty will cover for a single item per reservation. For example, if your guest had a party and damaged your TV, broke the refrigerator, and stained the rug at a value that does not exceed your total coverage, we will still cap the coverage for each of those items to the maximum any one item limit.
What if my homeowner already has insurance?
Even if your homeowner already has insurance that covers damage for content, you will most likely have a high deductible and the premium might be higher next year. With Guesty Damage Protection, you have a $0 deductible, and the cost will not change.
Billing period
Damage Protection is billed after the check-in date for every reservation, This means that reservations canceled before the check-in date will not be charged.
If the reservation is canceled after check-in, it will automatically be charged.
Before you begin
Once Damage Protection is activated, it will be applied immediately to all qualifying reservations, based on the following selections made during the set up process (explained below):

Properties
- All properties are included by default, you must edit to change
- Properties added in the future will be automatically included

Reservations
- Existing reservations are included by default, you must edit to exclude
- All new reservations with a future check-in date will be automatically included
Once activated, all reservations made through all connected channels for the selected properties will be covered. You cannot remove Damage Protection on a reservation level or channel level.
Cover the cost of Damage Protection
Before activating Damage Protection, decide whether to cover the cost yourself or pass it on to guests or owners to avoid billing gaps. Keep in mind that new fees or price changes apply only to future reservations, and any extra costs for current bookings will need to be collected separately.
Activate Damage Protection
Step by step:
- Sign in to your Guesty account.
- In the top navigation bar, click
and select Guesty add-ons.
- Click Guesty Shield.
- Click View plans.

Select plan: Click to select your coverage plan, then click Next.

Select properties: By default, the Damage Protection plan will apply to all of your existing and future properties. Click Edit to choose one of the following options:
- Exclude properties to exclude specific properties.
- By rule to apply the plan to any existing or future property that matches the city and/or tags you select.
- Specific to apply the plan to specific properties only.
Future properties added to Guesty will be automatically included.
- Reservations coverage: By default, all new reservations and current booking reservations will be covered. To exclude current booking reservations, tick the box.
- Click Next.
- Review the coverage plan details, read and agree to the terms and conditions, then click Confirm.
Important:
Damage Protection is only available under a paid subscription, after the free trial period has ended.
Step by step:

Tip:
You can view the Damage Protection plan and file a claim through the reservation page of the relevant reservation.
