What is strong customer authentication (SCA)?

In accordance with regulations, Guesty is aligned with Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) requirements, which have been effective from September 14th, 2019. SCA is a European regulatory requirement that was put in place to reduce fraud and make electronic payments more secure.
Guesty aligns with SCA regulations in three ways:
  • Reservations from a booking channel that directly collects the payments from guests: The responsibility of SCA is taken care of by the channel itself.
  • Reservations from a booking channel where payment is collected in Guesty: Payments are exempt from SCA rules.
  • Reservations from Guesty Booking Website: If required, SCA is handled during the reservation process.
