Guesty supports 3D Secure technology for all sources of reservations when payments are handled through Guesty (using a payment processor). This includes direct bookings and integrated channels.
However, not all transactions will be required to go through the 3D Secure verification process. For example:
- The cardholder's bank may not require this verification, due to factors such as local regulatory requirements.
- For instance, there is a high chance that this verification will be requested for credit cards issued in the European Union, while credit cards from the United States generally do not perform this verification.
- Merchant-initiated transactions are exempt from this process. A PMC is considered the merchant when issuing charges through Stripe.
When 3D Secure is implemented, a pop-up will appear to the guest during the reservation process. The amount displayed will be 0.00, not the amount of the reservation. This is because the card is being validated and tokenized, it is not being charged.
