Charging an Authorization Hold

Have more questions? Submit a request
Once an authorization hold has been placed, manually or automatically, and funds have been frozen on a credit card, you can charge the funds held. Follow the instructions below.

Important:

To charge the funds being held in the authorization hold, the reservation must have a balance due. You can adjust the accommodation fare or add an additional fee.

Step by step:

  1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
  2. From the top menu, click Reservations.
  3. Click the relevant reservation.
  4. Click Balance Due / Payout in the grey banner at the top of the page.
  5. Scroll down to the "Payments" section.
  6. On the relevant payment line that shows Transaction Type "Authorization Hold", click Charge now.
  7. In the pop-up, click Yes, charge payment.
The Transaction Type will update to "Charged".

Note:

Due to a requirement set by Stripe, seven days is the maximum length of an authorization hold. Any amount that has not been charged after seven days will be released automatically.
