Setting up Guesty's Liability Coverage

Ensure your guests and owners are protected while staying at the property with our convenient liability insurance. Pay a fixed amount only for nights with guests. No occupancy means no fee.

Liability Coverage is set up by property owner, so you choose which owners you wish to include and all of their properties will be covered.

Set up Liability Coverage

Follow the steps below to activate Liability Coverage.

Step by step:

  1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
  2. In the top navigation bar, click add-ons_center_tykyli and select Guesty add-ons.
  3. In the Guesty Liability Coverage tile, click Learn more.
  4. Review the information in the pop-up and tick the box to consent. Then click Get started.
  5. Choose a date for the plan to start. All reservations at the included properties with a check-in date on this date or later will be covered.
  6. Choose which owners to include in the coverage. Once you select the owners, the associated properties will be displayed below. Due to underwriting guidelines, the policy currently covers only properties located in the United States and of type house, apartment, chalet, condo, bed and breakfast, villa, cabin, or bungalow.
  7. Click Review listings
  8. Enter your payment method. You can use the same payment as the one you use to pay your Guesty subscription, or enter a different payment method. Billing for this feature is separate from your Guesty subscription and the amount will not be visible in your Guesty invoice.
  9. Click Purchase policy.
  10. Click Continue to the Protection Portal.

Once completed, reservations that are covered by the Liability Coverage plan and were checked out will be billed at the end of the month.

Claim resolution time

Once you submit a claim, you will receive email notifications immediately at each stage of the process (e.g., when the claim is received, accepted, or denied).

The time it takes for a claim to be fully resolved can vary widely depending on the specifics of the claim. Since this is a liability policy, claims are typically low-frequency, high-severity events, meaning that when they do occur, the complexity and severity can impact the resolution time.

For example:

  • Bodily injury claims: These tend to take longer to settle. A claim related to a serious injury, such as a broken leg, could take 6 months or more to close, depending on medical treatment and recovery.
  • Soft tissue injuries: These claims typically settle more quickly, often within 30 days or less.
Keep in mind that the timeline for resolving a claim will depend on the nature of the injury, the necessary investigations, and other factors specific to the case.
