Use the cleaning status to ensure you and your team stay on top of your property cleaning routine. You can set the cleaning status to change automatically or update the cleaning status manually.
Cleaning status automations can be set per listing or for the entire account.. New listings will follow the account settings by default.
You can set the following cleaning status automations:
- Mark as “dirty” after check-in.
- Automatically change the cleaning status of a listing to “unknown” or “dirty” after a set time.
These automations will be activated by default for new Guesty accounts and new listings.
Set up cleaning status automation on the account level
Follow the instructions below to configure cleaning status automations for any listings following your account settings.
Step by step
- Sign in to your Guesty account.
- In the top navigation bar, click the mode selector and select Setup mode.
- Click Account Settings.
- In the “Default preferences” section, scroll down to the "Cleaning status" field.
- Turn the relevant toggles on or off and fill in the required information.
Changes will automatically apply to all of the listings following the account settings.

- In the top right corner, click the profile icon.
- From the dropdown menu, select Account Settings.
- Scroll down to "Cleaning status".
- Turn the relevant toggles on or off and fill in the required information.

Set up cleaning status automation for a specific listing
Follow the instructions below to set up cleaning status automations for a specific listing.
Step by step:
- Sign in to your Guesty account.
- In the top navigation bar, click the mode selector and select Operations mode.
- Click Properties.
- Click the relevant listing.
For a multi-unit, access the main settings. The cleaning status automation will apply to all sub-units automatically. - In the left-side menu, click Automation, and select Cleaning status from the dropdown menu.
- Click Automate cleaning status at the top right (if already activated, click Edit).
- Switch on the Cleaning status automation toggle.
- Select Override account settings and update the settings as desired.
- Click Save.

- Click the relevant listing.
- In the left-side menu, click Automation, and select Cleaning status from the dropdown menu.
- Click Automate cleaning status button at the top right ( if already activated, click Edit).
- Switch on the Cleaning status automation toggle.
- Select Override account settings and update the settings as desired.
- Click Save.
Configuring a listing to follow the account settings for cleaning status automations
If you created specific cleaning status automations for a listing, but want to use the account settings instead, select Use account settings.
