Editing a Booking Engine API instance: Explained

This article accompanies our step by step instructions for editing a Booking Engine API instance after it has been created. During this process, you will be prompted to customize several fields. Read below about each field and how they affect the instance.

Business name

Enter your company's name to use internally in Guesty: This name will be presented in Guesty regarding aspects of the integration, reservation source and analytics.

Included listings

You can choose to display specific listings on a Booking Engine API instance: Select the relevant listing(s) from the drop-down to the right or type the listing's name to narrow the options. 

Excluded listings

You can choose not to display specific listings on a Booking Engine API instance: Select the relevant listing(s) from the drop-down to the right or type the listing's name to narrow the options.

Booking options

Choose how guests will be able to make reservations:
  • Only inquiries: Guests can place a booking request for available dates. The dates will be reserved for them (if available). You need to either confirm the booking request or decline it. Once you confirm the request, obtain the guest's credit card details and enter them manually. This option is helpful when taking payment on location or if you want to pre-approve existing guests without a credit card.
  • Only instant booking: Guests can book available dates according to the availability of the listing. Once the guest's credit card is validated the dates are booked.
  • Both: This option allows you to make Inquiries and Instant bookings via the Booking Engine API

Note:

dates in a booking request can overlap with each other while waiting to be confirmed. Once a reservation is confirmed, a new booking request will not be possible on these dates.

Payment implementation

Decide how to collect payments for your guests, depending on the booking option you chose for your Booking Engine API instance:
  • If you chose "Only request to book", you will be able to choose the following payment method:
    • Guesty invoice (for request to book): Use Guesty’s guest invoice to collect the payment.
  • If you chose "Only instant booking", you will be able to choose one of the following payment methods:
