Advanced Website: Set a default site language

The information in this article is relevant only for Pro users at this time. For information about booking websites for Lite users, refer to the Guesty Booking Engine

If you are building a site in a language other than English, the Site Language feature allows you to translate certain elements into your target language. Simply select your target language and the built-in text on several widgets will be translated into your target language automatically. The widget text has been pre-translated and cannot be customized.

Note:

This feature should not be mistaken for the Multi-language feature, which translates all text on the site using Google Translate. When Multi-Language is enabled, the default site language is set automatically, the Site Language tab will be inactive, and changes to the default language must be set via the Multi-Language feature.

To configure your site language:

  1. In the side panel, click SEO & Settings, and then click Site Language. Please note that if you need to select a non-supported language, you must do it from the Pages panel.
  2. If you are changing the default language to a language that has already been added to your site, click the dropdown menu next to the default language and select from the existing languages. If you want to add a default language that was not previously added to your site, click Manage Languages and select a new language.
  3. Select a language. The languages offered include:
Dutch Italian
English Turkish
English (UK) Portuguese
French Spanish (LATAM)
German Spanish (Spain)
Polish Finnish
Latvian Lithuanian
Arabic Swedish
Icelandic Norwegian
Danish Hebrew
Russian Catalan
Romanian Chinese (Traditional)
Chinese (Simplified) Greek
Korean Vietnamese
Indonesian

Note:

  • If you select a language that is not supported, the default widgets will be in English.
  • Language tags in the source code will be updated according to the chosen language.
