Editing a Guesty Damage Protection claim that was submitted

After a claim is filed for damage to your property, you may need to edit it, if you uncover more damage or if the claim was missing some information, for example. 

You'll be able to edit a claim if it's in one of the following statuses. Once a claim is Approved and/or Paid it cannot be edited. You can read more about the statuses in this article. For more details please see the Damage Protection terms & conditions.

  • Draft
  • Pending
  • Declined
  • Incomplete

Important:

Only users with the following roles can edit a claim: Admin, General manager, Owner relations manager, Property operation manager. You can follow these instructions to assign roles to your users in Guesty.

Step by Step:

  1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
  2. In the top navigation bar, click .
  3. Click Guesty add-ons.
  4. Scroll down to "Your active Add-ons" and click Guesty Shield.
  5. In the menu to the left, click Claims.
  6. Find the claim you want to edit and click its reservation ID. You'll be directed to the reservation page - find the "Damage Protection" section.
  7. To the right of the claim status, click Edit claim, and edit the following based on your current needs:
    • Details: Reservation-related details can't be edited
    • Amount
    • Add/remove item
    • Add/remove docs
  8. At the bottom of the page, click Resubmit claim.
  9. In the pop-up, click Yes, resubmit claim.

Canceling a Guesty Damage Protection Claim That Was Submitted

After a claim is filed for damage caused to your property, you may want to cancel it, if the claim was filed by mistake or if it was filed for the wrong reservation/listing. 

You'll be able to edit a claim if it's in one of the following statuses. You can read more about the statuses in this article:

  • Draft
  • Pending
  • Approved
  • Declined
  • Incomplete

Step by Step:

  1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
  2. In the top navigation bar, click .
  3. Click Guesty add-ons.
  4. Scroll down to "Your active Add-ons" and click Guesty Shield.
  5. In the menu to the left, click Claims.
  6. Find the claim you want to edit and click its reservation ID. You'll be directed to the reservation page - find the "Damage Protection" section.
  7. To the right of the claim status, click Edit claim.
  8. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Delete
  9. In the pop-up, click Yes, delete claim.

The canceled claim will have a "Withdrawn" status but will not be deleted, so you can still access it from the list of claims or the reservation page to view its details.
