Managing rate plans

Use rate plans to offer guests different pricing options for the same listing, with meal plans in addition to cancellation policies. These multiple offers can help you attract a wider variety of guests.

Rate plans also allow you to edit your cancellation policies in bulk, since you apply them to multiple listings at once - in the first place - using rate plans.

Note:

Rate plans are always in USD, even if your account or listings have a different currency.

Follow the instructions below based on your current needs or watch our video.

Important:

Listings assigned to a rate plan with availability settings will only be searchable on booking channels when the rate plan is searchable. If the rate plan does not have availability settings, the listing will be searchable based on the listing's availability settings. We strongly recommend having a rate plan with no availability settings to make sure your listings are searchable when you want them to be - regardless of rate plans.

Example: If a rate plan has a minimum of 10 nights, and a guest is trying to book 5 nights, the rate plan and therefore the listing assigned to it will not appear in the search results - even if the listing has a minimum of 3 nights. If you assign the listing to our recommended no-availability settings rate plan, it will appear in search results when guests try to book anything from 3 to 9 nights.

Create a rate plan

Step by step:

  1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
  2. In the top navigation bar, click the mode selector and select Growth mode.
  3. Click Revenue management and select Rate plan.
  4. In the top-right corner, click New rate plan.
  5. Fill in the information in each section and click Next:
    Rate plan setup

    Rate plan name

The name will help you identify the rate plan in Guesty. The name will sync to booking channels, but will only be visible to you, not guests.

    Cancellation policy

Select the cancellation policy. For some policies, you will be prompted to select a cancellation fee.

Example: A Moderate policy with a 50% fee means that if a guest cancels more than 7 days before arrival, they will be charged 50% of the reservation, but if they cancel less than 7 before, they will be charged the full amount.

Meal plan (optional) Decide if any meals are included in the reservation's price.
    Price & availability (optional)
    Price adjustment
Choose if you want to increase or decrease the listing's nightly rate (displayed on the listing's calendar) by a certain amount or percentage.

Example: You decided to add breakfast, so you want to increase the price by 10%.

    Availability settings

    Booking window

Choose how far into the future the rate plan can be used.

Example: The rate plan can be used for any reservation with a check-in date in the next 6 months.

If you set the rate plan's booking window, assigned listings will only be searchable during that booking window. Assign these listings to a no-availability settings rate plan to make them searchable after that booking window.

    Advance notice

Choose how many days before check-in the rate plan can be used.

Example: The rate plan can only be used if the reservation was made at least 3 days before check-in.

If you set the rate plan's advance notice, assigned listings will only be searchable after that advance notice. Assign these listings to a no-availability settings rate plan to make them searchable during that advance notice.

    Minimum nights

Choose the minimum number of nights a guest must book to be able to use this rate plan.

If you set the rate plan's minimum nights, assigned listings will only be searchable for reservations with that number of minimum nights. Assign these listings to a no-availability settings rate plan to make them searchable for reservations with a lower number of minimum nights.

    Note:

The number of minimum and maximum nights must be different.

    Maximum nights

Choose the maximum number of nights a guest is allowed to book and still be able to use this rate plan.

If you set the rate plan's maximum nights, assigned listings will only be searchable for reservations with that number of maximum nights. Assign these listings to a no-availability settings rate plan to be searchable for reservations with a higher number of maximum nights.

    Note:

The number of maximum and minimum nights must be different.

    Availability range

Choose when the rate plan is visible to guests on booking channels. If you limit the date range, you can also exclude certain days of the week.

(The ability to exclude certain dates, even if you do not limit the date range, is being tested and is not available to everyone yet).

Example: If you limit the date range and a guest tries to book outside that range, they will not see the rate plan.

If you limit the rate plan's availability range, assigned listings will only be searchable during that range. Assign these listings to a no-availability settings rate plan to be searchable outside that range.

(If you exclude dates, assigned listings will not be searchable during those dates, and reservations that include even one excluded date will not be eligible for the rate plan. Make sure these listings have another rate plan for the excluded dates).

    Assign listings
    Select listings
