Which Airbnb bed, bedroom, and room types are supported in Guesty?

Airbnb offers different room types and bed types to set up your listing's bed arrangement.
Below we'll discuss the different room and bed types that are supported with Guesty, as well as, some troubleshooting resolutions for related issues.

Airbnb Room types

Below is some helpful information about adding different room types to your Airbnb listings.

Supported room types

Room types that are supported on Guesty

You can add either a "Bedroom" or "Shared space" to your listing.

  1. When adding a room on Guesty to your Airbnb listing, the "Shared space" in Guesty will appear as "Living room" in Airbnb.
  2. You can personalize the name of the "Bedroom" room type in Guesty, but the room type's name on Airbnb won't sync and will always be displayed as "Bedroom x".
For example: Let's say you added two "Bedrooms" in Guesty, and changed the name of the room type to "Master bedroom" and "Child's room".
On Airbnb, the name will be displayed as "Bedroom 1" and "Bedroom 2".
  3. You can personalize the name of the "Shared Space" room type in Guesty, but the room type's name on Airbnb will always be displayed as "Living Room".

For example: Let's say you added a "Shared space" with 1 sofa bed on Guesty, then you changed the name of the room type to "My Shared Space".
On Airbnb, the name will be displayed as "Living Room".

  4. If you'd like to add rooms or room types in Airbnb that aren't supported on Guesty, you'll need to first change your sync settings in Guesty to "Limited".

Airbnb's "Where you will sleep" limitations

Syncing limitations

  1. If a "Shared Space" doesn't have a bed, it won’t be included in the "Where you will sleep" section in the Airbnb Listing page.
  2. Photos and captions under the "Where you will sleep" section aren't supported. If you'd like to have photos there:
    1. First, you'll need to change your sync settings in Guesty to "Limited".
    2. Then, upload your pictures to Airbnb.
  3. The display order of your space arrangements doesn't sync between Airbnb and Guesty.
The number of bedrooms and/or shared spaces will be the same on both platforms, however, syncing the display order of bedrooms isn't supported.
This means that the order you created the rooms in Guesty might not appear the same in Airbnb (and vice versa).

    For example:
Let's say the order of your bedrooms in Guesty is:

    1. "Bedroom 1" with a king bed
    2. "Bedroom 2" with a queen bed
    3. "Bedroom 3" with a twin bed

Airbnb may sync the rooms as:

    1. "Bedroom 1" with a twin bed
    2. "Bedroom 2" with a queen bed
    3. "Bedroom 3" with a king bed
Please contact us, if there is a different amount of beds, bedrooms, and/or shared spaces.

Shared bedrooms

You can add a bedroom that is also a shareable space.

If you have the “Shared with others” option toggled in Airbnb, it will import those bedrooms in Guesty as "Shareable".

Adding a "Shared with others" bedroom in Guesty

Follow the instructions below to add a shared bedroom in Guesty.

Important:

When a "studio" room type is published or imported to/from Airbnb, it will be created as a unique shared space. Airbnb supports only one shared space, so it's not possible to add an additional shared space to a studio.

Step by step:

Airbnb bed types

Below is some important information to know about different bed types to your Airbnb listings:

  1. Importing or publishing a listing will fail if unsupported bed types are set on Airbnb (explained below).
  2. We recommend editing your listing's bed types in Guesty, since any changes made directly in Airbnb could be overwritten by Guesty.
  3. If the listing sync is set to "Limited" sync and you are trying to push changes from Guesty to Airbnb, these changes won’t be synced.
In order to push the changes, change the sync setting to "Sync everything".

Below are the different Airbnb bed types that are either supported or not supported on Guesty.

Importing a listing with an unsupported bed type

If your listing has issues importing to Guesty, it could be due to an unsupported bed type.
Follow our troubleshooting steps below to resolve this issue.

Explanation/resolution

Error message:
VALIDATION_ERROR", "message": "\"bedrooms[1].beds.SMALL_DOUBLE_BED\" is not allowed", "data": { "details": [ { "message": "\"bedrooms[1].beds.SMALL_DOUBLE_BED\" is not allowed", "path": [ "bedrooms", 1, "beds", "SMALL_DOUBLE_BED" ], "type": "object.unknown", "context": { "child": "SMALL_DOUBLE_BED", "label": "bedrooms[1].beds.SMALL_DOUBLE_BED", "value": 1, "key": "SMALL_DOUBLE_BED" } } ] } } } }

If you see this error message, the bed type configured in your Airbnb listing is not supported in Guesty.

Follow these steps to resolve this issue:

  1. Change the bed type to one of the supported types listed above.
    1. If you don't want to change the bed type, please contact us to change your sync settings to "Limited".
This will keep the unsupported bed type, since your listing won't sync the bed settings in Guesty.
  2. Import the listing into Guesty again.
