Connecting a domain to your Guesty Booking Engine (Booking Website for Lite users)

This article is relevant for:
You can connect your own domain to the Guesty Booking Engine (Booking Website) to improve your branding. When visiting the domain, your visitors will be led to the Booking Engine site.
Follow the instructions below to connect your domain to Guesty. 

Note:

Pro users: You can also set up a custom domain for your Guesty Website. See more information here. Please note that your Guesty Booking Engine's custom domain name should be different than your Guesty Website’s custom domain.

 

1. In Guesty

Pro users Lite users

Step by step:

  1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
  2. In the top navigation bar, click the mode selector and select Growth mode.
  3. Click Distribution.
  4. Click the Guesty Booking Engine thumbnail.
  5. Click next to the relevant Booking Engine, and select Edit Booking Engine.
  6. Under "Custom Booking Engine custom domain (web address)" section, add the relevant address to the textbox. Note that the custom domain must start with "www". for example: www.livethebest1.com.
  7. Under "Guesty Booking Engine domain (web address)", copy the full domain name (in the example below: mycompany.guestybookings.com). Do not copy the custom domain.  
  8. Navigate to "Web analytics (optional)" by clicking it in the side menu, or by clicking Next a few times at the top right of your screen.
  9. Click Save Booking Engine.

 

2. In your domain host account

2.1 Update CNAME Record

Step by step:

  1. Sign in to your domain host account.
  2. Access the domain's settings. 
  3. Edit the existing CNAME record.
  4. Select the host/name as "www".
  5. Set the "value" to your Guesty Booking Engine/Website URL address (copied above).

2.2 Set up forwarding/redirect

Step by step:

  1. Set up a URL for redirect/forwarding from http://yourdomainname.com to http://www.yourdomainname.com
  2. If needed, select Permanent redirect (301) in your domain hosts settings.

Tip:

Here are GoDaddy instructions and Google instructions for redirecting a URL. If you are using other DNS providers, check their user manual, which usually can be found on their website.

Please allow several hours for the SSL certificate to update. If your engine does not show as secure after 24 hours, contact us.
