Understanding the syncing process for Expedia reservations

Changes in Expedia reservations sync with Guesty based on who initiates the change or cancellation. To ensure your reservation data is accurate across both platforms, learn about the syncing process:

Automatic syncing

If a guest changes or cancels their reservation in Expedia, Guesty updates automatically.

Manual syncing 

  • Changes or cancelations made by you: If you change or cancel a reservation in Expedia, contact us to update or cancel the reservation manually. Include a screenshot of the canceled reservation from Expedia.

    Beta: Any reservation changes or cancellations made by you in Expedia automatically sync to Guesty. No further action is required on your part.

  • Reservations reconciled directly in Expedia Partner Central: Reconciling a reservation means cancelling it after the check-in date if the guest doesn’t show up. If you reconcile a reservation directly in Expedia Partner Central, contact us with a screenshot of the reconciled reservation for manual cancellation. 

Managing cancellation fees

Guesty doesn't automatically receive or apply cancellation fees from Expedia after a reservation is canceled. To ensure the fee is properly documented in your records, manually add the cancellation fee to the guest folio (invoice) as a line item.
