As of Aug 20, 2020, Airbnb announced a global ban on all parties and events at Airbnb listings, including a cap on occupancy at 16. The ban applies to all future bookings on Airbnb, and it will remain in effect indefinitely, until further notice.
As a result, if you set the occupancy of a listing to allow more than 16 guests, we will send the maximum allowed occupancy to Airbnb, which is 16.
