Advanced Website: Managing site SEO and AEO settings

Search engine optimization (SEO) and answer engine optimization (AEO) increase your website’s visibility in search results and AI-driven platforms. While SEO focuses on ranking higher in traditional search engine results, AEO optimizes your content to be the direct answer provided by AI assistants and voice searches. Together, these settings drive organic traffic to your site and ensure your brand is visible across the evolving search landscape.

Improve your site’s visibility and boost organic traffic by filling in your site’s SEO and AEO fields. This helps search engines and AI models understand your content so your site appears in relevant search results and AI-generated answers.

Note:

Google factors Core Web Vitals in their search engine ranking. Optimize your site for Core Web Vitals to improve performance.

Edit overall site SEO and AEO

Follow the steps below to update your global search settings. These settings apply to any pages that don't have specific page-level SEO content.

Step by step:

  1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
  2. In the top navigation bar, click the mode selector and select Growth mode.
  3. Click Guesty Websites and select the relevant website.
  4. In the left-side menu of the editor, click SEO/AEO.
  5. In the side panel, click Additional settings.
  6. Update as needed.
  7. Click Save.

Indexing and crawling

  • No index

If you don't want your site or any of its pages to appear in search results or be crawled by AI models, toggle on No index. This tells search engines and answer engines not to crawl your site.

  • Sitemap, robots.txt & other files

Guesty automatically generates "sitemap.xml" and "robots.txt" files. Use this section to replace them with custom versions or upload other files, such as "ads.txt", to the root of your website. This helps control how search engines and AI crawlers interact with your site.

  • llms.txt

Guesty Websites automatically generates an llms.txt file to optimize AI search and LLM use for your published site.

Performance

  • Lazy loading of images & widgets

Toggle on to speed up page loading.

  • Show default system fonts while custom fonts are loading

Toggle on to speed up page loading and enable visitors to read content while site fonts are loading.

Note:

The site may "blink" when fonts are loaded.

Site meta data

  • Site meta title

The meta title is the most important tag for your site's search presence. It tells people, search engines, and AI models what your page is about. It appears in the browser title bar and search results.

    Note:

If you have a multi-language site, the site description doesn't translate automatically.

    • Include important keywords that describe your business.
    • Write titles that are clear, accurate, and appealing to users.
    • Limit the title to 60 characters.
    • This field can be connected to the Content library via Connected data.
  • Site meta description

The meta description provides an overview of your site's content. While it doesn't directly affect rankings, search engines and AI assistants often use it to provide a summary of your site to the user.

    • Write concise and compelling descriptions that explain why your page is valuable.
    • Limit the description to 160 characters.
    • Each page should ideally have a unique title and description. We recommend entering these individually in the "Page settings" menu.
    • This field can be connected to the Content library via Connected data.

Translating SEO settings for multiple languages

Important:

Page SEO titles, descriptions, and keywords are not automatically translated by the system. You must manually enter these fields for each language.

To maximize SEO for each market, use accurate translations and culturally relevant keywords in every supported language. This helps search engines index your site correctly in each locale.

  1. In the website editor, switch to your desired language using the language selector.
  2. Click Pages in the side panel.
  3. Select the page you want to edit.
  4. Click Settings for the selected page, then choose SEO.
  5. Manually enter the translated Page SEO Title, Description, and Keywords.
  6. Repeat these steps for each page and each language you support.
  7. Click Save after updating SEO fields for every language.

Tip:

Use professional translation services or specialized SEO translation tools. This ensures keyword accuracy and cultural relevance for your target audience in every language.
