Why are old Airbnb messages showing as unread in the Inbox?

If you see a sudden uptick in Unread messages in your Inbox, the likely reason is that your listing's connection to Airbnb has recently been disconnected, and then reconnected.

When this happens, the assigned listing’s conversations already exist in Guesty from the first connection and are imported again with the reconnection. For those conversations:

  • Messages that were already read will be marked as "unread"
  • If the messages were archived, they will be unarchived

If this occurs, please contact us to archive the messages and mark them Read in bulk.
