Are automated authorization holds supported for Vrbo reservations?

The information in this article is relevant only for Guesty Lite users who started connecting Vrbo before 19 Feb 2024 and for Pro users.

An authorization hold is the freezing of funds on a credit card for a limited time. Manual authorization holds are supported for Vrbo reservations in all scenarios. Automated authorization holds are supported for Vrbo reservations in the following scenarios:
  • Request to book reservations: Upon confirmation of a reservation.
  • Instant book reservations: Upon alteration of a reservation’s financial data, when there is an outstanding balance due.


For automated authorization holds, Vrbo only supports some of the options for when Guesty can capture the funds.

If an automated authorization hold rule has been set up in Guesty to charge funds held, a regular payment will be processed instead for instant book reservations. This occurs for reservations where financial data has not been altered or those that were altered when the reservation was fully paid.
