Overview
When you open a Marketplace Integration page in Guesty for an integration that is already connected, you'll see a button labeled "View API key (integration token)." Clicking this button displays the last generated token for that integration.
This article explains what this token is used for, why it expires, and what to do if you need to generate a new one.
What is the integration token used for?
The integration token (API key) is used only for the initial connection/authorization between Guesty and the Partner platform. Once the integration has been successfully connected using this token, its job is done - it is not used to keep the integration running on an ongoing basis.
Why does the token expire after 4 hours?
For security reasons, every integration token automatically expires 4 hours after it is generated. This 4-hour window gives you time to copy the token and enter it on the Partner's side to complete the connection.
If you view the token after this 4-hour window has passed, you'll see a message indicating the token has expired.
Important: An expired token does not mean your integration is disconnected or not working. It simply means that specific token is no longer valid and cannot be used/won't be accepted by Partner again - it has no bearing on the current, active connection between Guesty and the Partner.
When would I actually need a new token?
You only need to generate a new integration token if you are actively experiencing a connection issue - for example:
- You're setting up the integration for the first time and haven't finished entering the token on the Partner's side yet, or
- The Partner's dashboard shows a message that the integration is disconnected or that a new API key is required.
If your integration is working normally, an expired token shown on this page requires no action.
How to generate a new integration token
If you do need a new token, follow these steps:
- Go to the relevant integration page in Guesty.
- Click Disconnect.
- In the pop-up, check the box to confirm you read the message > click Disconnect
- Hard refresh the page.
- Click Connect. This will trigger Guesty to generate a new integration token.
- Copy the new token and enter it into the appropriate field on the Partner's app, or share it with the Partner's support team as needed.
Note: The new token will also expire 4 hours after it's generated, so we recommend completing the connection on the Partner's side as soon as possible after generating it.
