Why does my Booking.com reservation show a generic "Tax" line?

If you see a single line item labeled just "Tax" on a Booking.com reservation's guest folio, rather than your account's named tax types (e.g. "VAT"), this means the tax amount came directly from Booking.com's own calculation for that reservation, not from your Guesty tax configuration. This can happen even when your Guesty taxes are set up correctly, because:

  • Booking.com sometimes calculates and transmits its own tax amount natively via its Extranet, independent of what's configured in Guesty.
  • Guesty can only label a tax line with one of your named tax types when Guesty itself calculated that amount. A channel-transmitted amount has no such mapping, so it displays generically.

This is expected behavior, not a configuration error. There's nothing to fix on the Guesty side. If the amount looks wrong, check your Booking.com Extranet's own tax settings for that listing, since that's what's actually driving the number.
