Understanding the Multi-unit Fee Detector agent

The Multi-unit Fee Detector agent scans your active multi-unit properties and their sub-units to identify additional-fee setup differences, allowing you to align fees before guests see the wrong charge.

The agent is a read-only tool. It surfaces fee mismatches between parent properties and linked sub-units and reports them, but never changes fee settings, creates fees, or modifies reservations.

Note:

This agent reviews fee configurations only. It does not look at individual reservations, money objects, or what a guest was actually charged.

Limitations

  • Only active multi-unit parent properties and their linked sub-units are reviewed by this agent.
  • Single-unit listings, inactive properties, and historical reservation charges are excluded from the analysis.

Understand the Multi-unit Fee Detector agent

The Multi-unit Fee Detector agent runs automatically once a week on Mondays at 09:00. The agent can also be triggered manually.

During each run, the agent does the following:

  1. Scans your active multi-unit parent properties and their linked sub-units across your account.
  2. Compares each parent's additional-fee setup with every linked sub-unit.
  3. Flags parent/sub-unit pairs where either the fee source differs (account vs. property level) or the fee configuration differs (missing fees, or differences in amount, percentage vs. fixed, multiplier, target fee, bundled, deducted, or channel sync).
  4. Generates a report listing affected parents, flagged sub-units, and details on how their fee setups differ.

Run the Multi-unit fee detector agent manually

In addition to the scheduled run, you can trigger the agent manually at any time from the Agents hub.

Step by step:

  1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
  2. In the side navigation menu, select icon Agents hub.
  3. At the top, select the Finance tab.
  4. Click the Multi-unit fee detector tile.
  5. Under "When it runs", click Run now.

Review the results and status of the run in the activity feed.

Review the activity feed

Follow the steps below to review your activity feed.

Step by step:

  1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
  2. In the side navigation menu, select icon Agents hub.
  3. In the left submenu, select Agent activity.
  4. Click the relevant row with the agent's name to review the report details in the right-side panel.

Understand the report status and details

Each run is prioritized based on the total number of affected parent properties found:

  • "High": 5 or more affected parent properties were found.
  • "Moderate": 2 to 4 affected parent properties were found.
  • "Low": 1 affected parent property was found.
  • "Nothing to review": No affected parent properties were found.

The generated report displays one row per affected parent property. For each affected parent, you can view:

  1. The flagged sub-units.
  2. The reason why each sub-unit was flagged (fee source mismatch vs. fee configuration mismatch).
  3. The specific fees that differ, along with direct links to review the setup.

A parent/sub-unit pair is flagged when either of the following criteria is met:

  • Fee source differs: The parent uses account-level fees while the sub-unit uses property-level fees (or vice versa).
  • Fee configuration differs: A fee exists on the parent but not the sub-unit (or vice versa), or exists on both with different settings (such as amount, fixed vs. percentage, multiplier, target fee, bundled, deducted, or channel sync).

Review and act on flagged items

Use the links provided in the report to review and update mismatched fee configurations directly.

Aligning fee configurations between parent properties and sub-units ensures consistency across listings and prevents guests from being presented with incorrect fee charges during booking.
