Payment holds on security deposits typically expire after five nights, which can leave longer stays without protection for the rest of the trip. The Security deposit extender agent closes this gap by automatically renewing authorization holds before they expire.

Understand the Security deposit extender agent

The agent runs automatically every morning at 8:00 a.m., and you can also trigger it manually at any time.

Each run performs the following actions to keep property protection in place:

• Scans all currently checked-in reservations daily
• Finds reservations where the authorization hold expires on that day
• Cancels the expiring hold and creates a new hold that extends until one day after the guest's checkout date

The agent skips any reservation where the guest checks out on the same day the agent runs, since the hold doesn't need renewing.

Run the Security deposit extender agent manually

In addition to the scheduled run, you can trigger the agent manually at any time from the Agents hub.

Step by step:

1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
2. In the side navigation menu, select Agents hub.
3. At the top, select the Finance tab.
4. Click the Security deposit extender tile.
5. Under "When it runs", click Run now.

Step by step:

1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
2. In the side navigation menu, select Agents hub.
3. In the left submenu, select Agent activity.
4. Click the relevant row with the agent's name to review the report details in the right-side panel.
   

Understand report statuses

The Security deposit extender report displays one of the following statuses:

• "Done": the agent renewed all eligible authorization holds successfully
• "Failed": the agent encountered a system error and couldn't complete the run
