Expedia Phone Number Issue | 2026.04.01

Our partner, Expedia Group, has confirmed that starting March 26, 2026, travellers’ real phone numbers on new reservations are being replaced with dummy, non-functional placeholder numbers.
As a result, workflows that rely on guest phone numbers, such as calls, SMS, WhatsApp, or automated check-in communications, may be affected for Expedia reservations.

Expedia has communicated that this change is related to phishing prevention and that phone numbers are replaced with dummy values across its entire platform.

What we are doing:
To avoid storing misleading contact data, we will be removing these placeholder phone numbers from affected reservations and guest profiles once we identify them. After removal, those fields may be empty until you collect valid contact details from the guest in another way.

What you can do:
We recommend sending guests a Guesty Guest App link with a check-in form that asks for their real phone number and email address when you need them for your operations. That helps you rebuild accurate contact information outside of what Expedia supplies on the booking.

We are coordinating this issue with Expedia. Thank you for your understanding.
