Setting a listing's check-in window

The check-in window helps you minimize gaps between reservations by limiting how far into the future new guests can check in, while still allowing check-outs.

When you set up a check-in window, Guesty automatically blocks your calendar based on the rules you define across Guesty and all connected channel listings.

How it works

On every reservation, after the checkout date, the system allows new check-ins only within your defined window.

If there is no upcoming reservation yet, the window automatically moves forward each day, always keeping your set number of days available from today.

You can manually override these settings at any time, maintaining full control over your reservation calendar.

If you have multiple future reservations, the system handles each individually, adjusting check-in availability according to your gap rules until it reaches a reservation block.

Check-outs are still allowed on any day, even outside the check-in window.

Limitations

  • Dates outside the allowed check-in window appear as unavailable on connected channels. You can override this and create manual reservations for those dates directly in Guesty.
  • The check-in window works alongside other booking rules, such as minimum stay requirements. If the gap between existing reservations is too short for your minimum stay requirement, those dates remain unavailable even within your check-in window.

Important:

Restricting check-ins reduces your property’s availability.

Visual indication in the calendar

When dates have restricted check-in availability, your calendar displays a visual indicator to help you easily identify which dates fall outside your check-in window.

Dates outside the defined check-in window appear as restricted.

Examples

Scenario 1 - Basic check-in window

You set a 5-day check-in window. A guest checks out on July 1.

The calendar now allows check-ins from July 1 to July 5. From July 6 onwards, dates appear unavailable for new check-ins.

If no bookings are made, the window shifts forward daily:

On July 2: Available check-in dates would be July 2 to July 6.

On July 3: Available check-in dates would be July 3 to July 7.

Scenario 2 - Minimum stay requirements override check-in window

A guest checks out on July 1. You have a 3-night minimum stay requirement, and you set a 5-day check-in window. Your next reservation starts on July 4.

While your check-in window normally allows check-ins from July 1 to July 5, the 2-day gap between July 1 checkout and July 4 check-in is shorter than your 3-night minimum stay requirement.

The calendar shows July 1-3 as unavailable for new check-ins, even though they fall within your check-in window, because guests can’t complete a 3-night minimum stay before the existing July 4 reservation begins.
