Pilot: Can multiple promotions apply to the same reservation?

The information in this article is relevant only for Pro users at this time.

Promotions are discounts you can offer your guests to boost advanced bookings (with the "Early-bird" promotion) or to encourage them to book longer stays (with the "Length-of-stay" promotion). If you have multiple promotions, you will want to know if they stack in a single reservation and give guests double discounts (or more).

The logic behind how many promotions are applied to a single reservation (and if so, which one), depends on where the reservation was booked.

Booking channel reservations

For reservations made through a booking channel, the ability to stack promotions in a single reservation depends on the channel and what it allows.

Manual and direct reservations

For manual reservations and reservations made through our direct booking solutions (booking website, booking engine, or booking engine API) - promotions never stack. Here is how we choose which promotion to apply:

Promotions are the same type

Early-bird

If multiple early-bird promotions can be applied to the same reservation, the one with the highest number of days is selected.

Example:

  • "Early-bird 1" gives a 10% discount to guests who book 30 days or more before check-in.
  • "Early-bird 2" gives a 20% discount to guests who book 60 days or more before check-in.
  • If the guest books 70 days before check-in, we apply the "early-bird 2" promotion.

Last-minute

If multiple last-minute promotions can be applied to the same reservation, the one with the lowest number of days is selected.

Example:

  • "Last-minute 1" gives a 20% discount to guests who book 4 days or less before check-in.
  • "Last-minute 2" gives a 10% discount to guests who book 7 days or less before check-in.
  • If the guest books 3 days before check-in, we apply the "last-minute 1" promotion.

Length-of-stay

If multiple length-of-stay promotions can be applied to the same reservation, the one with the highest number of days is selected.

Example:

  • "Length-of-stay 1" gives a 10% discount to guests who book 7 days or more.
  • "Length-of-stay 2" gives a 20% discount to guests who book 14 days or more.
  • If the guest books 20 days, we apply the "length-of-stay 2" promotion.

Promotions are different types

  • If the promotions have different discount percentages, we apply the promotion with the highest percentage.
  • If the promotions have similar discount percentages, we apply the last promotion assigned to the listing.

Promotions are mixed - same type and different types

First, we group the same-type promotions and check which one would apply to the reservation if those were the only promotions. Then we take those "winners", and check their discount percentages:

  • If they have different percentages, we apply the promotion with the highest percentage.
  • If they have similar percentages, we apply the last promotion assigned to the listing.

Note:

For manual and direct booking reservations, length of stay promotions do stack with coupons and weekly/monthly discounts. If a coupon or weekly/monthly discount is applied to a reservation, the length of stay promotion will be deducted from the discounted price.
