Which property types are supported by Google VR?

The information in this article is relevant only for Pro users at this time.

Within Google Travel, there are two distinct sections dedicated to vacation properties: Google Hotels and Google Vacation Rentals. Both sections can be accessed via Google Travel. Before a listing is published to Google, Google sorts and classifies it as either a vacation rental or hotel property, based on the listing’s property type and features.

To manage your listing in Guesty, the listing must be published to Google Vacation Rentals. If Google classified your property as a hotel, it will likely be published to Google Hotels instead.

As Guesty isn’t integrated with Google Hotels, you won’t be able to manage this listing via Guesty and the listing’s connection in the Guesty integration page will be set to “Failed”.

Learn below which property types are considered by Google as vacation rentals and which are hotels.

Vacation rental properties

  • Apartment
  • Bungalow
  • Cabin
  • Chalet
  • Cottage
  • Gite
  • Holiday Village rental
  • House
  • Villa
  • Vacation rental (other)

Learn more with Google’s definitions for each of these categories.

To avoid misclassification of the property as a hotel, refrain from using the word "Hotel" in the property's name or description.

Hotel properties

  • Hotel
  • Motel
  • Hostel
  • Resort hotel
  • Mountain hut (Lodge)
  • Camping cabin
  • Extended stay hotel (Aparthotel)
  • Love hotel
  • Inn
  • Bed and Breakfast (Guest house or pension)
  • Farm stay
  • Japanese inn (Ryokan)
  • Capsule hotel
  • Religious accommodation
  • Budget Japanese inn
  • Holiday park

In some cases, Google won’t be able to attribute the listing to only one of the categories and your listing may appear in both sections.

Google alone manages the sorting and distribution of listings. Guesty does not exert control over this process. Adhere to the specified property types in the vacation rental properties list to ensure that the listing can be managed via Guesty and receive our support.
