Using Common door locks

With Guesty Locks Manager, you can designate a lock as a common door lock - for example, lobby, rooftop, pool, storage room, etc. -  and enable guests to use their private lock code for all facilities.

Before you begin

If you are transitioning from another lock manager system, reservations that have already check-in need to be managed under the previous system, including common doors.

If you've already linked a lock and would like to use it as a common door, you must unlink the lock then follow the steps below to link it again as a common door.

Similarly, once a lock is linked as a common door, you must unlink and link it again as a private unit door.

For common door locks, no backup code is created. If needed, you can share the backup team member code with a guest.

Changes made under the "Code settings" tab will apply to all private unit locks. Follow the steps below to edit the default activation and deactivation times for your common door lock.

Set common door lock activation and deactivation times

Common door locks are activated/deactivated by default at Estimated Arrival Time (ETA) and Estimated Departure Time (ETD). The time is based on the property check-in and check-out times, or the guest's specific timing if added to a reservation.

Follow the steps below to change the activation or deactivation time, in 15 minute increments from ETA/ETD. For example:

  • Start the code activation time 30 minutes before ETA.
  • End the code activation time 45 minutes after ETD.
