Changing or altering a Vrbo reservation

Guesty Lite users:

If you connected Vrbo after 19 Feb 2024, this action must be taken in Vrbo. If you connected prior to this date, follow the instructions below.

Alteration or changes to Vrbo reservations must be done in Guesty, not in Vrbo. This includes reservation status, dates, assigned listing, number of guests, and financials. You can see the full information here: Data synced between Guesty and Vrbo.

Before you begin

  • Alterations to reservations will only sync with Guesty if there is still a connection in place. Listings must be marked as "Connected" in Guesty and show a similar status on Vrbo as well.
  • Changes to a reservation made in Guesty will be updated in Vrbo within 24 hours.
  • We recommend creating an Automated Message template that will be sent upon the alteration of a reservation. This is to let the guest know that the change has been made, but it will take a bit longer to be updated in Vrbo's platform. You can ensure that it is sent only for Vrbo reservations by adding a Channel sending condition.

Important:

The total payout will be recalculated based on the listing's current nightly rates at the time a change is made.

Extending or shortening a reservation

Extend or shorten a guest's reservation before or after check-in by following the steps here.

Before extending a reservation, check the listing's calendar to see if the additional dates are available.

Moving a reservation to another listing

You can move a reservation from one listing to another. Guesty will block the relevant dates on the new listing's calendar, rather than the change being made in Vrbo. Follow the instructions here.

Adding and editing guest details for reservations

In Guesty you can add a guest's personal details and change them when needed, such as:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Hometown
  • Preferred language

Editing a guest invoice

Once your invoice settings have been created, you have the flexibility to add invoice items or edit certain existing line items before sending the invoice to the guest. Follow the steps outlined here.

Note:

If the financials are updated in Guesty it will sync with Vrbo, but it might not be indicated in the Vrbo dashboard.
