Configure a sub-domain for your Guesty Booking Engine (Booking Website for Lite users)

A subdomain is a domain that is a part of another domain. It is an added prefix to the site's domain URL, to mark a separate section of your website.

For example: - Main website. A site where visitors can book properties. A site where visitors can see your company blog.

In this case,, and are subdomains for the domain.  Also, the root domain (or Value) is "", while the first section before the root domain ( "book") is known as the host name.

Setting up a subdomain for your Booking Engine (Booking Website)

To set up a subdomain to point to your Booking Engine (Booking Website for Lite users), you need to retrieve your Booking Engine domain, and then set up a CNAME record in your domain provider. For example, add the custom domain: "" to your Booking Engine domain: ""

Adding a custom domain to Guesty

Pro users Lite users

Step by step:

  1. Sign in to your Guesty account.
  2. In the top navigation bar, click the mode selector and select Growth mode. 
  3. Click Distribution.
  4. Click the Guesty Booking Engine thumbnail.
  5. Click Edit next to the relevant Engine (Pilot users: click , and select Edit Booking Engine).
  6. Navigate to the Custom Booking Engine domain section. Add a custom domain address to the domain textbox. For example:
  7. Copy your Booking Engine main address from the main dashboard, appearing on the left side of the relevant row. Do not copy the custom domain.

Add a Cname record to your domain host provider

Step by step:

  1. Sign in to your domain host account.
  2. Click the domain settings.
  3. Click on Add a CNAME record.
  4. Type in the host/name (For example: "book").
  5. Set the "Value" (or "Data" in the Google Domains example below) to your Guesty Engine main URL.

After configuring the CNAME record for your subdomain, you should have the following CNAME record in your DNS settings:

  • SSL certificate is automatically provided within 24 hours. If your site shows as not secured after 24 hours, please contact us.
  • When assigning a subdomain to a site, www does not need to be added, just the subdomain.
